DJ fatally shot inside Bronx lounge after argument, police search for suspects

A Venezuelan DJ was shot and killed inside a lounge in the Bronx, New York, after an argument escalated into gunfire, according to police.

The victim, identified as Yei Reyes, better known as “DJ Hampa,” was found with a gunshot wound to the head inside the basement of M Lounge Restaurant in the Fordham neighborhood shortly after 4:25 a.m. on Thursday.

Authorities said Reyes was taken outside onto the sidewalk, where he was pronounced dead.

According to investigators, the shooting followed an argument inside the venue. Police believe two suspects fled the scene on foot and remain at large.

Family members told investigators that Reyes had been at the restaurant the previous evening selling sunglasses. Residents in the area also identified him as a local DJ.

Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage and speaking with witnesses as they continue to investigate the fatal shooting.
